Dear students,

Here is the wonderful opportunity for all of you to easily learn several Open Source Softwares for free from renowned experts with the help of SpokenTutorial Training programs.  Spoken Tutorials- an IIT Bombay project (ST-IITB)  is a Govt. funded project coming under National Mission on Education through ICT (NMEICT).

The Software courses offered are C/C++, Java, PHP, MySQL, Python, LaTeX,  OpenFOAM, Linux, Scilab, Oscad,  GIMP,  Python and so many more, all Free and Open Source Softwares (FOSS). For each software (in general), the training is [2 hours for Workshop, self revision: 2 -3 weeks, and then 1 hour assessment test].  The dates and timings of the workshops and tests can be decided by the department according to their convenience. Certificates are also given from Spoken Tutorials, IIT Bombay (ST-IITB) to the students on successful completion. Till date, over 4 lakh students have been trained across the length and breadth of India.

Spoken Tutorial is a magical Audio Video teaching tool promoting ICT enabled learning. It provides a unique way to train Students and Teachers on various very useful and employable software for all streams. Our youth from all sections of society can benefit and that too without paying any money or leaving the campus. It provides value addition to regular class room and lab learning of a particular software. The various courses offered have relevance in syllabus and enhance higher studies as well as employability prospects. New software can also be learnt. Knowledge of Python, PHP & MySQL and Multimedia packages and Scilab is in demand in many sectors. .Our Spoken Tutorials train in simple steps moving from simple to complex levels and give practical training of the theoretical concepts. As a result students fast track their knowledge and cope better with the course. The language used is simple and the tutorials ensure that ample instructions and practice is provided to guarantee self-learning. The method is distance learning and it is unique as students learn by their own selves (SELF Learning) and individually. Though computer based, the learning and practice is completely offline once the courses are downloaded into the systems. Students listen using earphones, pause, rewind, fast forward as per their progress and in an interactive manner using simulation understand hands on the practical application of the theoretical concepts.
