Ph.D. Admission Process

All candidates selected for Ph.D. admission in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) / Computer Applications (CA) are required to download, print, and duly complete the prescribed forms as per the instructions provided below.


Step 1: Joining Report & Choice of Supervisor (FORM_1_Link)

FORM_1 consists of three pages and must be completed as follows:

·       Fill in all personal and academic details accurately.

·       Enter your Registration Number, Admission Number, or Student ID.

·       Indicate at least five preferred supervisors in order of priority under whom you wish to pursue your doctoral research.

·       Mention your preferred supervisor based on the priorities indicated on Page 2.

Upon completion, submit FORM_1 to the Departmental Research Committee (DRC) Office, Department of Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) / Computer Applications (CA).

Office Use Only

The Departmental Research Committee (DRC) shall allocate a research supervisor based on the candidate's preferences, academic background, research interests, and departmental requirements. The assigned supervisor will be communicated to the candidate by the department.

Once the supervisor has been allotted, candidates may proceed to Step 2.


Step 2: Student Research Committee (SRC) Constitution (FORM_2_Link)

After the allocation of the supervisor, candidates must complete FORM_2.

·       The details of the Student Research Committee (SRC) shall be filled in as constituted by the Research Supervisor in accordance with University regulations.


Step 3: Coursework Registration (FORM_3_Link)

Candidates are required to complete FORM_3 for registration of Ph.D. coursework.

Selection of Core Courses

In addition to the mandatory courses, candidates must register for core courses (3 credits each) based on their highest academic qualification:

·       M.Tech. Candidates: Select two (2) core courses.

·       MCA, M.Sc., and other Postgraduate Candidates (without an M.Tech. degree): Select three (3) core courses.

·       B.Tech. Candidates: Select four (4) core courses.

The selection of core courses shall be made in consultation with the Research Supervisor and should align with the candidate's proposed area of research.

Final Submission

Before submission, ensure that:

·       FORM_2 and FORM_3 have been duly completed.

·       All required signatures and approvals have been obtained.

·       The information provided is accurate and complete.

Submit both forms to the DRC Office for approval and further processing.


Important Note

Candidates are advised to retain copies of all submitted forms for their records. Incomplete forms or forms submitted without the required approvals may result in delays in the admission and registration process.
