The Department of Computer Science & Engineering is implementing Project-Based Learning (PBL) for students of 3rd and 5th semesters. This initiative aims to enhance practical understanding and application of core subjects through real-world projects.
Subjects with PBL Implementation
3rd Semester
(TCS-302 – Data Structures with C)
Discipline-Specific Electives (DSE):
- Fundamentals of Cloud Computing and Big Data
- Introduction to Cryptography
- Fundamentals of IoT
- Python Programming
- Fundamentals of Information Security and Blockchain
- Information Security Foundations
- Introduction to Statistical Data Science
- Probability and Random Processes
5th Semester
- Operating Systems
- Database Management Systems
Group Formation Guidelines
- Each group should consist of 3–4 members from different sections (for DSE, students can be from the same specialization).
- A Team Leader must be assigned who will fill out the group formation form on behalf of the group.
- A separate Google Form will be shared shortly for group detail submission (to be filled only by the Team Leader).
- Groups can vary across different subjects.
Modalities of PBL Implementation
Project Allotment
- Faculty Mentors will be assigned to each group.
- Groups must coordinate with their mentors via official communication channels.
- After ideation and discussion, the mentor must approve the proposed project.
- Upon approval, the group will submit the Project Proposal (Milestone-1).
- Deadlines and submission formats for each milestone will be shared in due course.
Mentorship & Checkpoints
- Weekly 2-hour mentorship sessions will be scheduled.
- Mentors will guide teams and review progress at regular intervals.
Phases of Evaluation
- Problem Statement Finalization (in consultation with the mentor)
- 1st Evaluation: Proposal and Design Review
- 2nd Evaluation: Progress Report, Deployment, and Demonstration
- Final Evaluation: Final Jury Presentation and Report Submission
Important Notes
- Platform for submission: GitLab or Gradescope
- Group formation is mandatory for each subject with PBL.
- All students must participate actively and maintain regular coordination with mentors.
